Hair colour: why does it change during the summer?

Like the skin, hair is exposed to the sun, and therefore UV rays, during the summer.

Your hair reacts to the sun, as does your skin, by changing colour. The sun slightly bleaches your hair, even more if you expose your hair to seawater or swimming pool water (that contains bleach).
This is true whether your hair is coloured or not.

Hair sun-protecting products do not exist and the only protection from the sun is wearing a hat.
But, you can also treat your hair if it has been exposed to the sun. Carry out a regular hair care routine, using shampoo and conditioner that moisturise your hair and help protect it from external aggressions such as the sun. Use a hair mask once a week to moisturise and treat your hair.

Garnier’s range of hair care products caters for all types of hair, helping you treat and protect it. This way, you hair remains strong and healthy all year round.
